Kumar And Clark's Clinical Medicine

Description

Product description

Kumar & Clark’s Clinical Medicine 8 builds on the prize-winning formula that won the first prize in the BMA Book Awards Medicine Category in 2010 (7th edition) and 2006 (6th edition).
‘This book is comprehensive, student friendly (if still intimidating in size!) and covers such a vast breadth of knowledge. It still remains the primary ‘must-have’ text book of any budding doctor, or qualified one at that. This book is stunning in its breadth and in its ease of use. It still remains as the ‘gold-standard’ thorough guide to clinical medicine its forefathers were.’ BMA Judges 2010

'This is one of a select few books that deserves to be in most doctors' personal possession and it's as simple as that. ...’ Dr Harry Brown.

    Review

‘This is the eighth edition of Kumar and Clark in 15 years, which is a remarkable achievement and testament to the authors’ dedication – the title of Kumar and Clark is now legendary. It is regarded by many as the ‘must have’ textbook for budding and qualified doctors and the ‘gold standard’when compared against competitor textbooks. Previous editions have been applauded for being both comprehensive and student ‘friendly’. Does the latest edition live up to the high expectation? The short answer is yes: this edition includes much that is new including sections on protein synthesis, energy production and stem cells, 16 new contributing authors and a significant increase in online chapters to reflect the interests of the expanded international advisory board. This expansion demonstrates the burgeoning nature of medicine and the challenge to medical students and doctors in training to identify how much and when such knowledge is required."
British Journal of Hospital Medicine, February 2013
"This is one of the best medicine books available for U.K. clinicians with many ideal features appropriate for clinicians worldwide as well."- Vincent Carr, DO, MSA, FACC, FACP (Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences) 5 star Doody Rating!

I just got this book today and I am tryly amazed by how readable it is. Every important detail is given either an synoptic box or a relevant illustration. The margins have indications of additional resources. Everything in this book seems geared towards improving retention of the material.
Also, this book is middle-of-the road in that it is neither too concise nor too descriptive. I am glad I got it after I had some knowledge of most of the topics, because now I can easily consolidate.
Although many people swear by Cecil's, I must say that I find the 2-volume set rather cumbersome. Kumar and Clark's is great to read in bed, which is what I like to do.
My only complaint is that I expected the photographs on the studentconsult site to be bigger. Those on the book are mostly small (which is good within the context of the printed version)

Brilliant all in one review book for the MRCP exam. I am using this and a couple other book of lists as well as online qbanks. I reviewed for almost 6 months about 2-4 hours per day and passed the MRCP written part I on the first attempt. there were literally no surprises, to my very great surprise!

I love it! I am a 3rd year medical student in Greece. I used it throughout this year and I planning to use this for the rest of my student years...I am not really into internal medicine and this book is working miracles in the field!

This book is overrated.Yes it is good for a student,RN,PA.But not for an internist. It is too expensive in comparison to the medical data .The information it provides is not worthy all that money. It gives no new more than Harrison's Manual which is much cheaper and more concise. If you wanna a real internal medicine text so you still need Cecil or Harrison. One last thing don't believe that offer of free overnight shipping. They charged me the shipping and the book was in bad shape like it is used
